Meeting Dates
The following schedule is flexible. It is designed to give an overall flavor for what we will accomplish week-to-week, but still allow the group to make any changes they think necessary.
STAGE ONE
First face-to-face meeting, Wednesday, March 19th
Today, we will get to know one another and start the process of defining the problem as we see it. Questions we might consider include:
• What is your experience with BMPs?
• What have you heard about BMPs from your friends and neighbors?
• If you were asked why more people have not adopted BMPs, how would you respond?
• Are there common threads in our assessments?
First online conversation: begins on Thursday, March 20th
This week we will continue the work of our first face-to-face meeting to refine our definition of the problem.
STAGE TWO
Second face-to-face meeting, Wednesday, April 2nd
Today, we will work on identifying a range of solutions to the “problem” of BMP compliance as we have defined it.
Questions we might consider include:
• Summary of the progress that we achieved in the online conversation.
• How have we defined the problem?
• What kinds of solutions are implied by this definition?
• What are the benefits, trade offs and consequences of these solutions?
• Which solution do we find most attractive?
Second online conversation: begins on Thursday, April 3rd
This week we will continue the work of our second face-to-face meeting, identifying options, considering the consequences of these options, their benefits, costs, and trade-offs.
STAGE THREE
Third face-to-face meeting, Tuesday, April 15th
Today, we will think about implementing our solution.
Questions we might consider include:
• Summary of the progress that we achieved in the online conversation.
• What will our solution entail? What are the steps involved?
• How much will it cost?
• Who will be responsible for implementing it?
• What do we think will happen if it is implemented well and how long will this take?
• Let’s make a plan to share our findings.
Third online conversation: begins on Wednesday, April 16th
This week we will continue the work of our third face-to-face meeting.
Depending on the solution we have adopted, we might assign specific tasks to individual members or teams.
As the online conversation progresses, we will make a summary of the feedback we received from the homeowners. We will decide whether we want to include these thoughts in our final report.
STAGE FOUR
Final face-to-face meeting, Wednesday, May 7th
Presentation day! We present our findings to the public and to representatives of the responsible agencies. During our presentation, we will walk through our thought process, explain why we selected our favored option, describe briefly how we see this option being implemented, and answer any questions.
Our findings will be published on Ourtahoe.org and may also be published in the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, Tahoe Daily Tribune and Sierra Sun newspapers.
